Over 10,000 tickets have been sold for the Waterford end of the Aviva Stadium

Thousands of Waterford FC fans are set to descend on Dublin today as the Blues chase FAI Cup glory.

Graham Coughlan’s side will take on Derry City in the FAI Cup Final at the Aviva Stadium this afternoon.

Over 10,000 tickets have been sold for the Waterford end of the stadium, with supporters expected to flock in huge numbers for Irish soccer’s showpiece event.

Irish Rail has put on two extra train services from Waterford to Heuston, both of which are fully booked, as are its regular Sunday services.

A number of bus services between Waterford and Dublin have also sold out.

Meanwhile, a host of local clubs have organised private buses to take their members to the capital.

It will be Waterford’s first appearance in the cup final since 2004 and they are aiming to lift the cup for the first time since 1980.

Kick-off at the Aviva is at 3pm, with the game being shown live on television on RTÉ 2.
