Waterford City and County Council has secured the windows and doors of a property in the city after concerns were raised over its derelict state.

Fianna Fáil councillor Eamon Quinlan has welcomed the work carried out at the property in Dominic’s Place.

In a post on Facebook, Cllr Quinlan wrote: “Pleased to see the council has now secured the property in Dominic’s Place after I reported it.

“Long term property damage and anti-social behaviour will only be truly resolved by the placing of a local family in the property following suitable renovations.”

It comes after Cllr Quinlan had raised concerns over the derelict state of the property.

In a previous post on Facebook, he wrote: “Deeply disappointed to see the current damage done to 72 Dominic’s Place.

“A property, too long left vacant, only attracting trouble and distressing locals. I have contacted council authorities this evening about getting the property made safe and secure.”

Cllr Quinlan also concluded that post by saying that only long-term renovations and occupation will solve the issue in the long term.
