Water outages were first reported in the Bunmahon area on Tuesday morning

A water tanker has arrived in a village in County Waterford on the third day of water outages in the area.

Water outages were first reported in the Bunmahon area at approximately 10:30am on Tuesday morning.

Uisce Éireann initially reported that repair works on a burst water pipe were due to be completed by 4pm that day.

However, many households and businesses in the area remain without water three days later.

A water tanker has been brought in this morning and is located beside the public toilets in Bunmahon.

In a post on Facebook, Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane said that there has been “terrible disruption” in the village in recent days.

“Hopefully the problems are sorted soon,” he added.

In an update issued last night, Uisce Éireann said its crews were working to restore water to customers in Bunmahon and the surrounding areas.

It said that an unplanned interruption had led to customers in the area experiencing an interruption to their water supply.

Customers in Kildwan, Ballinasisla, Bunmahon Village and the surrounding areas are experiencing supply disruptions, low pressure, or intermittent outages as a result.

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Commenting on the works, Maura Phelan of Uisce Éireann said: “We understand the inconvenience that unplanned outages can cause for customers, homes and businesses.

“Our crews are working to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible and restore normal water supply to all affected customers.”

Customers can check the latest updates on the Water Supply and Services section of the Uisce Éireann website.
