Loren Flynn from Waterford city prepares to fly the flag for the Déise at the Miss Ireland Final

An “inspiring” young Waterford woman is set to represent the county in this year’s Miss Ireland Final.

Loren Flynn from Waterford city prepares to fly the flag for Waterford at the final, which takes place in Dundalk, County Louth on Saturday, November 21.

Loran is a recent graduate of SETU Waterford, where she achieved her BA (Hons) in Psychology.

The 22-year-old now works as an Assistant Support Worker, supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Her ongoing cardiac health journey has shaped her both personally and professionally.

Loran said: “Completing my final year of college while managing health difficulties was challenging, requiring resilience, determination and self-belief.

“Throughout this experience, I knew there had to be a bright light amongst the difficult days. I wanted to turn my personal challenges into something meaningful and empowering, not only for myself but for others facing similar circumstances.

“This inspired me to become a Miss Ireland finalist, stepping outside my comfort zone to raise awareness of women’s cardiac health, mental health and the impact of loneliness.

“Even when surrounded by a loving family, health difficulties can leave you feeling isolated, and I want others to know they are not alone.”

Loren is also passionate about advocating for Samaritans and raising awareness of the resources available to those experiencing mental health difficulties or loneliness.

Looking ahead, she hopes to use her Miss Ireland platform to encourage open conversations, break down stigma and promote greater understanding of the connection between physical and mental health.

Her long-term ambition is to create a supportive space for people navigating health challenges, where emotional wellbeing is valued alongside physical care.

Loren is among the lineup of young women from across the country competing for the coveted Miss Ireland crown.

Now celebrating its 78th year, the Miss Ireland Final will bring together this year's finalists, former titleholders, celebrities and special guests.

The winner of Miss Ireland 2026 will receive a range of prizes, including an agency contract, alongside the opportunity to represent Ireland at the Miss World Festival in Tanzania in 2027.
