€28,000 in funding has been announced for Tidy Towns groups in County Waterford.
The funding was announced at the 2026 National Tidy Towns Awards Ceremony held at Croke Park on Friday, October 23.
21 groups across the county are eligible for the funding, which amounts to €28,000 overall.
In total, €1.5 million in funding has been announced to support the work of almost 1,000 Tidy Towns groups nationwide.
This funding is intended to aid groups in their efforts to make their towns and villages better places to live, work and visit.
The news was welcomed by Waterford Fine Gael TD and Minister of State John Cummins.
Minister Cummins said: “This is great news and this funding recognises the vital role played by our volunteers who work extremely hard year-round to ensure that our communities are at their best.
“The passion and dedication of Tidy Towns volunteers is the embodiment of everything that is good in our communities.
“Investment of this kind reaps long term rewards, and I have no doubt this will be money well spent.
“It will help keep our towns and villages vibrant, sustainable places to be proud of and I commend the work of everyone involved in groups in Waterford and nationwide.”
Tidy Towns groups who entered the competition in 2024, 2025 or 2026 will be eligible to apply for a grant of between €1,000 and €4,000.
This funding is intended for groups to aid with their preparations for the 2027 competition and can also be used for projects with a sustainability and biodiversity focus.
