There were a number of fires in Waterford over the weekend
The Waterford City Fire Service has issued an appeal following a “busy few days” of tackling fires.
The fire service made the appeal in a post on social media on Monday.
A spokesperson for the organisation said: “Crews have had a busy few days with grassland and gorse fires.
They went on to issue advice to locals with the aim of preventing more fires from happening.
“Discard your cigarettes properly, and dispose of your vapes properly and please do not use disposable BBQ’s on dry grassland.
“Be careful, enjoy the outdoors and the weather and if you see an incident evolving be sure to call the relevant emergency services as soon as possible.”
In the event of a fire, the Waterford City Fire Service can be contacted on 999 or 112.
