A popular riverwalk in Waterford city is set to be upgraded in the coming weeks.
Independent councillor David Daniels provided an update on the Maypark Trail in a post on social media.
In the post on Facebook, Cllr Daniels wrote: “Works will commence in the coming weeks on upgrading paths along sections of the riverwalk.
“This will also include a new entry point, something I have been working with the council on for a number of months.
“As part of the works, areas where there has been damage from surface water will be addressed with any necessary pipework installed to help prevent further damage.
“Levels are to be corrected and paths are also to be widened in certain areas.”
He went on to welcome the works and outlined why the riverwalk is particularly special to him.
“It is great to see the council’s ongoing commitment to the riverwalk, with works continuing on its extension and building on previous enhancements.
“This is particularly meaningful to me, as one of the last enhancements my late father worked on was the extension of the riverwalk to Glenville a number of years ago.
“It is fantastic to see that work continuing and the riverwalk being further improved for the community.”
A number of local residents welcomed the update and the planned works in the comments section of the post.
