Waterford City and County Council has announced major works will began next week on two popular playgrounds in Dungarvan.

At Dungarvan Linear Park the existing timber equipment will be removed and replaced with new safety surfaces and equipment, including a new multi-play unit, a zip-line, an inground trampoline, a 4.5m high space net, spinning cup and a 4-seater seesaw.

The local authority says the works, due to commence on Monday, September 7, will be carried out by Browne Brothers. To facilitate the works, Dungarvan Linear Park will be closed to all users until the end of September.

Following the completion of works at Dungarvan Linear Park, works will commence on the upgrade of Walton Park Playground. This project will include the installation of a new senior mega multi-play unit, a junior multi-play unit, and a 4.5m high space net.

Further upgrade works in An Rinn and Ardmore are also scheduled to take place later in the Autumn.

The projects are funded by Waterford City and County Council and the Capital Grant Scheme for Play and Recreation, which is a capital grant-funding scheme to support new and existing play and recreation facilities for children and young people, administered by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.
