Number of changes proposed to controversial Active Travel scheme in Waterford city

The public consultation period on the Waterford project has now closed
A local councillor has proposed that a number of changes be made to a controversial Active Travel scheme in Waterford city.
Labour Party councillor Seamus Ryan has made the suggestions in relation to the Lismore Park, Lisduggan, and Larchville Accessible Neighbourhood Project.
After consulting local residents, Cllr Ryan suggested that a number of changes be made to the scheme in a post on social media.
In the Facebook post, he wrote: “Following representations made to me by local residents, I proposed the following amendments to the Larchville/Lisduggan/Lismore Park Active Area plan with Waterford City & County Council.”
Cllr Ryan went on to propose the following changes:
1. Removal of cycle lane at Sunrise Crescent/Claremont
2. Removal of cycle lane at front of houses on Lismore Park
3. Removal of seating on green in Lismore Park
4. Removal of cobblestone outside houses 1 -14 Larchville
5. Reinstallation of playground for toddlers at Manor St John Campus.
He continued: “I believe these to be reasonable requests by local residents.
“These and other issues have been brought to my attention by local residents and would seem to be reasonable requests.
“I would like these amendments to be included under my name prior to the plan coming back to the council.”
Cllr Ryan concluded by saying he will continue to work with local residents in relation to the plan for the area.
