‘Very serious issue’ with overhanging trees on busy road in Waterford
Cllr Pat Fitzgerald spoke on the subject at the July meeting of the Waterford Metropolitan District
There is a “very serious issue” with overhanging trees on a busy road in County Waterford, a council meeting has heard.
Sinn Féin councillor Pat Fitzgerald spoke on the subject at the July meeting of the Waterford Metropolitan District.
Cllr Fitzgerald said: “I just have one very, very serious issue regarding trees, overhanging on the High Road in Dunmore East, which is between the Horsequarter and the Azzurro Restaurant.
“Now, we have a very capable woods and forests group that brought this issue to me. They are concerned about the trees.
“I’ve been driving under them for years [...] and they are quite serious.
“I have alerted the roads department to this and [urged them to] have a look at them. I would request urgency on that issue if possible.”
In response, Paul Johnston, Senior Engineer at Waterford City and County Council, said that the council has looked at the issue.
“I think the trees in Dunmore East were looked at this morning so we’ll come back to you with an update on that,” Mr Johnston said.
