‘How clever’ - Local artist working on new addition to popular mural in Waterford city

A local artist is working on a new addition to a popular mural in Waterford city.

Lukas Dwan has begun work on the infills on the mural which runs along the Dock Road in Ferrybank.

It is envisaged that when finished, Lukas’ work will outline an old map of Waterford.

Steve Thwaites, who runs the Facebook group Ferrybank Focus, outlined the work in a post on social media.

Mr Thwaites said: “Great to meet and chat to Lukas Dwan this morning.

“Lukas is starting the infills between the pictures by Mariana Santos on Dock Road.

“Lukas explained that when finished they will make up an old map of Waterford. How clever is that!”

The mural itself, painted by Portuguese artist Mariana Santos, depicts old pictures of Ferrybank and Waterford city.
