Public invited to Cathedral Square for poignant tribute at the John Condon Memorial

Waterford will pay tribute to its fallen heroes this Sunday as the county marks the National Day of Commemoration with a special ceremony at the John Condon Memorial in Cathedral Square.

Set for 11am on Sunday, July 13, the event will honour all Irish men and women who have died in past wars or while serving on United Nations missions. Those remembered include people from Waterford who served in World Wars I and II, the War of Independence, the Civil War, and more recent peacekeeping operations abroad.

The ceremony will feature a multi-faith service, the raising of the national flag, military honours, and wreath-laying by members of the Defence Forces, veterans' organisations, elected representatives, and community groups.

Taking place at the John Condon Memorial, dedicated to Private John Condon and the many others from Waterford who lost their lives in conflict, the commemoration will pay tribute to the county's proud history of service.

All members of the public are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
