Met Éireann has issued a series of warnings ahead of the arrival of Storm Éowyn which could be one of the most destructive storms ever seen in Ireland.
Status red wind warnings have been issued for EVERY county in Ireland with the first taking effect at 2am on Friday and the last remaining valid until 2pm.
For Waterford, a status orange wind warning will be in place from midnight until 4pm on Friday while a highest-level status red wind warning will be in effect between 2am and 10am on Friday.
Schools, creches and colleges will remain closed on Friday and all public services, including public transport will NOT operate while status red warnings are in place.
Waterford City and County Council is advising members of the public that all of its buildings and facilities will be closed on Friday.
