Big changes could be on the way for one of Waterford's busiest school runs, with new traffic calming and pedestrian safety measures proposed for outside Scoil Lorcain National School in St John's Park.
Waterford City and County Council says the scheme is designed "to prioritise safe access to the school and reduce vehicle congestion at the front of school."
Under the plans, footpaths would be widened, a dedicated set-down area created, and new line markings and signage installed. Footpath build-outs would be added, and a one-way traffic system would be introduced on nearby roads.
A new raised pedestrian crossing is also proposed on the L90325-1 to help children and parents cross safely.

The Council says the measures are part of a wider push to improve safety for all road users, including schoolchildren, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists in the area.
Drawings of the proposed works are available to view online at consult.waterfordcouncil.ie and in the Council's Customer Services Departments in Bailey's New Street, Waterford City, from Wednesday, August 13 to Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
