Nine Waterford food and drink producers named finalists in Ireland's top food awards

Nine outstanding Waterford producers have been named among the finalists for Blas na hÉireann, The Irish Food Awards 2025.

The shortlist for Ireland's most prestigious food awards was unveiled this week with local Waterford names Blackwater Distillery, Blue Butterfly Coffee Company Ltd, Cocoa by Judit, Coffee House Lane, Dawn Meats, Irish Country Meats, Irish Gourmet Butter, Knockanore Farmhouse Cheese and Sophie's Taste Creations making the cut.

"The food and beverage scene in County Waterford is simply outstanding," said Gareth Evans, Head of Enterprise at Local Enterprise Office Waterford. "With nine finalists in the Irish Food Awards, our local producers and creators are being rightfully recognised for their passion, quality, and innovation.

"This is a testament to the dedication of our talented producers, restaurateurs, brewers, and distillers, who make Waterford a true destination for food and drink lovers,” he added.

Blas na hÉireann Chairperson Artie Clifford praised the "incredible standard of produce" from both established names and newcomers, noting the "huge innovation across all categories" in this year's competition.

"For us, these awards are about championing the producers, and giving them the spotlight they deserve in Dingle each October. We can’t wait to welcome them.”

Now in its 18th year, Blas na hÉireann attracted more than 3,000 entries, with 190 categories, the largest in the event's history. Winners will be announced during the annual festival in Dingle from October 2-5, with the awards ceremony taking place on Friday, October 3.
