Shaw’s has revealed plans for changes to its Waterford premises
Plans have been revealed for major changes to be made to the front of an iconic department store in Waterford city.
A planning application has been submitted by Shaw's Retail Stores Limited for amendments to its premises on Meagher’s Quay.
The development would see the current 1960s plastered shopfront section be replaced.
A new two-storey shopfront of increased height would replace it, featuring a glazed panel.
The shopfront signage would be illuminated, with a projected store sign.
There are plans for a new canopy and infilling of recess to fire exit and substation at street level
The planning application notes that the building forms part of a protected structure.
The application was submitted by Shaw’s on July 22 and is currently at the pre-validation stage.
If deemed valid, a decision by Waterford City and County Council is expected by September 15.
