Waterford road closures announced for Spraoi Festival in the city
Waterford City & County Council has announced a number of significant road closures as part of a traffic management plan for the upcoming Spraoi Festival in the city.
A number of key routes will be affected over the August Bank Holiday weekend, spanning from Friday, August 3 to Sunday, August 5. Spraoi is supported by the council as well as the Arts Council and is billed as an international street arts festival.
The festival has been hugely popular and traffic disruption can be expected. O'Connell Street will be closed from the junction of Hanover Street to Galdstone Street for the duration of the weekend from 12 noon to 11pm daily with a diversions in place.
The Mall, Mall Lane and Bank Lane will also be closed on the Friday, August 3 to facilitate events from 9pm to 11pm. Those routes will be closed to traffic once more on Saturday and Sunday from 8am on the Saturday until 7pm on the Sunday with diversions in place.
Meaghers Quay/Coal Quay will also be closed on the R680 from the junction at Gladstone Street to the junction of Keizer Street on Sunday, August 5 from 8.30pm to 11.30pm.
Traffic diversions will be in place on all affected routes for the duration of the festival. You can find out more about the Spraoi Festival at www.spraoi.com.
