There is an “accident waiting to happen” at the entrance to a popular fast food restaurant in Waterford city, a council meeting has heard.
The issue was raised by Fianna Fáil councillor Jason Murphy at the March meeting of the Metropolitan District.
Cllr Murphy detailed issues being experienced by motorists entering and vacating McDonald’s on the Cork Road.
He thanked Senior Engineer Paul Johnston for facilitating a meeting with him at the site.
Cllr Murphy said: “I would ask Paul [Johnston] has he had a look at that and I would ask him if he could come up with a solution there because I do think it’s an accident waiting to happen.”

In response, Mr Johnston said that the issue of traffic buildup at the premises has been reported to the council before.
He noted that a “substantial” part of the premises is under the ownership of McDonalds.
Mr Johnston added: “We will try and come up with a solution with all the stakeholders that have businesses in the area.”
