Busy Waterford road set to be closed this weekend due to event taking place

Grattan Square in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford will be closed on Sunday 23 from 1pm to 8pm for the 'Big Switch On' of the Christmas lights.

There will be a partial closure and parking will be restricted from 4pm today.

Waterford City and County Council would like to let the public know that overnight parking will not be allowed. 

The 'Big Switch On' event sees music and festivities happening in the town from 2pm on Sunday.

Santa will arrive later that day, along with a fire engine. 

The Christmas lights will then be turned on, marking the official beginning of the festive season in Dungarvan.

Similarly in Waterford City, the launch of Winterval got underway yesterday evening, marking the beginning of Christmas in the City.

Santa joined the Mayor of Waterford to turn on the lights and mark the beginning of the Christmas festival. 

Events and attractions will be available to attend every Thursday to Sunday right up until December 23.
