A well-known Waterford landmark could soon be home to brand new padel courts after a planning application was submitted by Padel 100.
The proposed development would see courts built on the Mount Congreve Gardens estate beside the Waterford Greenway, transforming the old disused tennis court area into a new hub for sport and recreation.
Padel, one of the fastest-growing racket sports in the world, is often described as a mix of tennis and squash and has surged in popularity across Europe in recent years.

Mount Congreve says the addition would build on its reputation as a destination for health, wellbeing, and recreation, while continuing a long tradition of racket sports on the estate.
The move is part of a wider vision to expand the activities available at Mount Congreve, which already attracts visitors for its gardens, walking trails, and outdoor experiences.
If approved, the new courts would add another draw for both local communities and visitors to the landmark Waterford attraction.
