The young girls of Shamrocks LGFA club in Waterford had a 'fabulous day' at the U-10 Go Games Activity Day held in Croke Park on Monday, July 1.
The youngsters saw themselves on the pitch with 63 other clubs from 30 other counties as part of the day, including St Patrick's, a fellow Waterford club.
At the event, Máire O'Brien, mother to two of the girls representing Shamrocks spoke to Jerome Quinn about their experience: "Croke Park means an awful lot, and they are absolutely so thrilled to be here."
"They were told by their Granny and Grandad to put a little bit of grass from Croke Park in their boot," she joked. "That will bring them a lot of luck over the years when they continue to platy gaelic football and hopefully they will be back here in a few years maybe with the grass still in their boots!"
Speaking of the girls' love of the "hallowed grounds" which are Croke Park, Máire added: "We were up here for Waterford in the camogie final last year and they know how important it is, they know the All-Irelands take place here and that it is a really good opportunity to score a goral, get a point or even just set foot on the grass."
