Fianna Fail confirms it will run nine candidates in Waterford for local elections

Fianna Fáil has confirmed it will run a total of nine candidates in Waterford for next month's local elections.

On Friday, June 7, voters in Waterford will go to the polls to elect 32 councillors to the local authority, across six electoral districts - Comeragh, Dongarven/Lismore, Tramore/Waterford City West, Waterford City East and Waterford City South.

*Ray Murphy – Portlaw-Kilmacthomas
*Vivienne Burns – Waterford City South
*Cllr Tom Cronin – Dungarvan
*Cllr John O’Leary – Portlaw-Kilmacthomas
*Cllr Eamon Quinlan – Tramore-Waterford City West
*Cllr Stephanie Keating – Waterford City East
*Cllr Adam Wyse – Waterford City East
*Cllr Jason Murphy – Waterford City South

Commenting on the finalisation of the party's candidates, Waterford TD and Minister of State,  Mary Butler said: “At present, Waterford County Council has six sitting Fianna Fáil representatives. I have worked closely with them all in recent years and I have seen the sterling work they’ve done on the ground in their respective areas. This is also true of our new candidates, whose tireless activism and engagement in their local communities has given them a strong platform from which to run a competitive campaign."

Deputy Butler added: “It is evident that Fianna Fail are putting forward community driven candidates on this local election ticket in Waterford. I think that those who engage with them at the doors will be encouraged by the vast array of experience, expertise and passion on display."

She concluded: “Fianna Fáil is the largest party in local government, so we can be positive around our body of work in recent years on City & County Councils nationwide heading into the remaining weeks of this campaign. This ticket reflects how the party puts local community and local issues at the heart of what we do, and I think people will acknowledge that on polling day.”
