Guineys officially reopened its Waterford store this morning

A much-loved department store in Waterford city has finally reopened.

Guineys officially reopened its doors at its George’s Street premises this morning.

WLR’s The Live Wire Lunch will be broadcast live from the brand-new look store from 12 noon until 3pm.

In a post on social media, a spokesperson for the store said: “Pop in, say hello, explore the fantastic refurbished store, grab some incredible reopening bargains, and be in with a chance of winning loads of fantastic prizes throughout the day!

“Can't make it in? Don't worry! We'll have exclusive prizes for listeners at home during the live broadcast too!

“It's the perfect excuse to discover the new-look Guineys, bag a bargain, and celebrate one of Waterford's favourite stores reopening!”

Guineys closed suddenly in December of last year following a fire at the premises.

At the time, no indication was given as to how long the business would be closed for.

The news of its reopening has been welcomed by a large number of people from across Waterford.
