There was a touch of TV star glamour in Waterford last week as the Viking Hotel Waterford officially launched its newly renovated guest rooms, with renowned architect and RTÉ personality Hugh Wallace joining the celebrations.

Guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks, live music, and the chance to explore the hotel's elegant new rooms, all designed by Hugh, who was warmly welcomed by the crowd.

Hugh Wallace, of Douglas Wallace Architects, is one of Ireland's best-known architects and is widely recognised as a judge on RTÉ's hit shows Home of the Year and Great House Revival, where his eye for design and engaging personality have made him a household name.

His firm has worked on numerous high-profile projects across hospitality, commercial and residential spaces, bringing a signature blend of modern luxury and functional design.

At Viking Hotel Waterford, Hugh's work on the newly unveiled bedrooms includes locally inspired artwork, sophisticated décor, and spa-inspired bathrooms, reflecting his signature style of comfort and elegance.

The evening drew plenty of familiar Waterford faces, including Government Chief Whip & Minister of State Mary Butler, Waterford Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Doolan, and hotel owners Noel and Noleen Kelly. Guests mingled while admiring the transformed accommodation.

General Manager Karen Dollery said: "We are so proud of the transformation and the reaction from our guests has been fantastic. Hugh Wallace has brought a real sense of style and comfort to these rooms and we're with the finished product.

"Whether staying for business or leisure, we know our guests will enjoy a truly relaxing experience."
