The 31st Annual Dunmore East Bluegrass Festival will take place next month

Excitement is building in County Waterford ahead of a popular music festival which is taking place next month.

The 31st Annual Dunmore East Bluegrass Festival will take place from Thursday, August 27 to Sunday, August 30.

The festival will feature a range of artists from across various genres, including bluegrass, americana, country, roots, folk and rockability.

Whistle The Band, The Blue Stack Mountain Boys and The Clem O’Brien Band will be among the groups performing.

They will be joined by the likes of Prison Love, Gypsy Rebel Rabble and New Valley String Band.

Other artists will include The Eskies, Mons Wheeler, Dublin Country Club, Ragdoll, The Backyard Band and Lonely Mountain Music.

Events will be held in The Strand Inn, Azzurro Bar & Restaurant, Power’s Bar, The Spinnaker and Aggie Hayes’ Pub across the four day festival.

Announcing this year’s event, Festival Chair Clifden Doyle said that it’s the atmosphere that makes the festival so special.

Mr Doyle said: “Every August, something special happens in Dunmore East.

“Music fills our streets, strangers become friends and our entire village comes together to welcome visitors from near and far.

“That's been the heart of this festival for more than 30 years.

“While the artists are world-class, it's the atmosphere, the people and the setting that leave the lasting impression.”

He concluded by saying that the festival organisers are looking forward to welcoming everyone back for “another unforgettable weekend” at the end of August.
