Waterford hurler Austin Gleeson is set to miss the Déise's opening two Munster Championship outings due to a hamstring tear picked up against Tipperary last month, according to RTÉ Sport.

The 2016 Hurler of the Year joins fellow injured teammates Shane McNulty and Iarlaith Daly on the sideline for the first part of the Munster Championship campaign.

"One or two might see 10 or 15 minutes but definitely not full games in either of the first two fixtures," Waterford selector Peter Queally told RTÉ.

He added: "What we’re looking at is getting them back for the third fixture (against Clare)."
