ALERT: Witnesses sought following spate of thefts from cars in Waterford city
Gardai say there were a large number of thefts from vehicles and attempted thefts from vehicles over the weekend
Gardai are appealing for information following a spate of thefts from vehicles in Waterford city over the weekend.
In an appeal, issued on Sunday night, they say there were a large number of thefts from vehicles and attempted thefts from vehicles on Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning.
The areas where the offences occurred included Lismore Park, Ardkeen Village, Maypark Lane and Bracken Grove.
According to gardai, CCTV has been obtained and investigations are ongoing. Two males in dark clothing were observed at one of the thefts.
"We would ask people to check video doorbell footage and report anything that may be relevant to the investigation. We would also encourage people to be extra vigilant when securing their vehicles and not to leave valuable items in the cars or vans. If you have a work vehicle, consider enhancing the locks or improving the alarm on the vehicle if you have to store tools and other items overnight," said a spokesperson.
Gardai are also appealing to members of the public to report any people or vehicles that they think are acting suspiciously in their local area.
