Waterford Airport to seek planning permission for extension to terminal building

Waterford Airport developer William Bolster has provided an update on the plans
Waterford Airport will seek planning permission for an extension to its terminal building in the coming months, the airport’s developer has said.
William Bolster was speaking to Ireland South MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú in a video posted to her social media pages.
Speaking at the airport, Mr Bolster said: “We’re hoping to go in for planning for a new terminal extension in a couple of months’ time.”
He went on to say that he’s “very excited” about the redevelopment of the airport.
He continued: “Sure it’s great for everyone. It’s even great for all the staff and everyone involved for so many years.
“Sure what, we’re waiting 17 years for this to happen.”
There has been a large build of machinery at Waterford Airport in recent weeks as work on the runway extension got underway.
A large amount of top soil has been removed, with the majority of works understood to be preparatory at this stage.
As part of the project, the airport’s runway will be lengthened to 2,287 metres and widened to 45 metres to accommodate larger commercial jet aircraft.
