Aware launches urgent call for volunteers to join its support team in Waterford

Aware has launched an urgent call for volunteers to join its support team in Waterford.

Aware supports up to 40,000 people across Ireland every year and the organisation relies on volunteers to deliver its free, nationwide support services

Volunteers are needed from Waterford and all over Ireland, remote and in-person roles are available with comprehensive training, ongoing education, and continuous support provided.

Aware are currently recruiting volunteers for:

Support Line: The Aware Support Line is a crucial service providing callers with telephone support and information about issues relating to their own mood or the mood of a friend or family member who may be experiencing depression, bipolar disorder or other mood related conditions. It operates 365 days a year from 10am-10pm.

Support & Self Care Groups: Safe spaces where people living with depression and bipolar disorder can connect and share experiences. Groups meet virtually via Zoom and phone-in, with in-person options in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Kerry, and Waterford.

What Aware are looking for: Compassionate individuals with strong communication skills, a genuine passion for mental health, and a willingness to give approximately three hours per week. Volunteers must be comfortable using technology and able to participate in ongoing training. Volunteers must be over 21, and remote volunteering is fully supported.

Stephen McBride, Director of Services at Aware, said, “People volunteer for many different reasons. For some, it’s a way to give back and make a meaningful difference. For others, it’s an opportunity to learn new skills or deepen their existing knowledge. It’s also a chance to be part of a supportive and caring community. Whatever your motivation, we’d love to hear from you.”

Applications are now open at www.aware.ie.
