Policing Authority to host meeting with the Garda Commissioner in Waterford
The Policing Authority is an independent body, responsible for overseeing the performance of the Garda Síochána in the provision of policing services. The Authority also has a role in promoting public trust and confidence in policing. A significant part of oversight involves monthly meetings with the Garda Commissioner and his senior team, a number of which are in public and streamed live. This month, the Authority meeting will be in public at the Tower Hotel, Waterford, on 23 November at 3pm. The meeting is open to the public to attend and observe the Policing Authority’s engagement with the Garda Commissioner, addressing local and national matters relating to policing and community safety.

The Chief Executive of the Policing Authority, Ms Helen Hall stated:
“Over recent months the Authority has actively engaged and consulted with stakeholders, including community groups in Waterford and the surrounding counties, as well as members of the Garda Síochána. This approach allows the Authority to better understand the challenges they face, listen to their concerns and gain valuable insights to inform our oversight of the Garda Síochána.
We are delighted to host our first meeting in public in Waterford. These meetings are a cornerstone of our work, marking our commitment to open dialogue and reaffirming our commitment to transparency and inclusivity. We invite members of the public to attend and observe this important discussion.”
