It has been confirmed that the local authorities and An Garda Síochána have been contacted

Waterford Animal Welfare (WAW) were on the scene Tuesday, February 18, following reports that three dogs were found dead in a wooded area.

A passer-by who found the poor animals alerted the group, who then took to social media in a desperate plea hoping to find the owner, or owners. As of yet, no one has come forward.

All three dogs were not microchipped, which is illegal in Ireland. This makes it more difficult to trace who the animals belong to.

In this social media post, a member of WAW said, "It's upsetting to think that people are still out there capable of treating animals in this way. The circumstances of their deaths has not been determined as yet."

Many locals took to the comments of this post to share their disgust.

One commenter said, "Heart-breaking. Would be great if the culprits were found and actually suffered consequences of their disgusting actions."

While another stated, "How many more cases do we need to witness before laws change? How many?"

A third commented, "Sleep tight beautiful babies. Sickening."

Speaking with Andrew Quinn from Waterford Animal Welfare, he said, "They were just thrown over the ditch, I wouldn't imagine they were killed there. I would think, if anything, they were just dumped."

When asked did he think these deaths were committed on purpose, Andrew said, "Absolutely, there is no doubt about it."

Mr Quinn confirmed that the local authorities and An Garda Síochána have been contacted.
