REVEALED: Over 20 people refused social houses in Waterford
OVER 20 people refused social houses in Waterford in the first quarter of 2023, it has been revealed.
A total of 22 social housing applicants refused offers presented to them by Waterford County Council, between January and March of this year.
11 people refused houses due to ‘property being unsuitable’, while 10 others said that the ‘location was unsuitable’.
One person’s reason was that they had bid on a Choice Based Letting (CBL) property but had not expected to win, and now wanted to remain where they were currently residing.
Four of the 22 applicants refused houses in the Dungarvan/Lismore/Comeragh area, while 18 in the Metropolitan district.
CBL refers to when a person expresses interest in renting a council dwelling that matches one’s housing needs, in an area of their choice.
This information was sought under the Freedom of Information Act 2014 and relates exclusively to the first quarter of the year.
