A Waterford TD has called for action in a local seaside village which he says has “huge potential”.
Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane made the remarks regarding Dunmore East in a recent post on social media.
In the Facebook post, Deputy Cullinane wrote: “Today, I met with the ESB and other stakeholders to discuss the future development of Dunmore Harbour.
“There is huge potential here. Dunmore Harbour can play an important role in offshore renewable energy, while also supporting our fishing industry, leisure and marine activities and the cruise ship sector.
“Unlocking that potential will require significant investment and real ambition.”
He went on to say that he will continue to call for increased investment in the area.
“I have been raising the need to invest in and develop the harbour for some time and I will continue to make the case for it.
“I am very happy to engage with all stakeholders and work constructively to get this project over the line.”
“We need to think big, be ambitious and get big projects delivered for Waterford,” Deputy Cullinane concluded.
