A man has been arrested following the seizure of a massive drugs haul and weaponry.
According to An Garda Síochána, gardaí seized €285,000 worth of various controlled drugs, a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition after conducting a search of a property in Portlaoise as part of Operation Tara.
Officers attached to the Laois Drugs Unit seized large quantities of suspected cannabis herb, cocaine and MDMA as well as a small quantity of suspected cannabis resin.
They are currently subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
The shotgun and ammunition are also currently subject to forensic examination by the Garda Ballistics Unit.
The arrested man, who is aged in his 40s, was apprehended at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda station in the Eastern Region.
Investigations are ongoing.
