Waterford Aviation has provided an update on works at the airport

A “major operation” is underway to remove hundreds of lights at Waterford Airport.

Waterford Aviation, an indepedent social media page run by local people in the aviation industry, has provided an update on works at the airport.

In a post on Facebook, it highlighted the work being undertaken to remove the lighting fittings from the airfield.

The post read: “Lights out — construction moving full speed ahead!

“The next phase of works is underway, and it’s time to remove more than 250 airfield lighting fittings from across the airfield.

“It’s a major operation and another important milestone as we prepare the airfield for the next stage of construction.

“250+ fittings. One big job. Another step forward.”
