Jury selected for trial of Waterford man accused of murdering construction worker

A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a man who admits killing but denies murdering a construction worker in County Waterford just over two years ago.

Maurice Boland, aged 37, of Bridgeview Close, Tallow, County Waterford was arraigned before the Central Criminal Court in Dublin this Monday.

Mr Boland has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the manslaughter of Cian Gallagher, 26, at Barrack Street in Tallow, County Waterford on November 10, 2022.

At the Criminal Courts of Justice, Ms Justice Eileen Creedon swore in a jury of seven men and five women to hear the trial, which will begin on Wednesday morning and is expected to last no more than two weeks.
