The National Lottery’s winners' room was buzzing, as five winners collected their prizes at Lottery HQ on 1 Georges Quay, Dublin, after the bank holiday weekend, including a Waterford scratch card player.
Celebrations may very well be underway for one lucky Waterford woman won big on an All Cash Tripler scratch card.
The winner was overjoyed and in disbelief, sharing the story of how she learned the news.
She said, “I was at work, and I popped out to the shop for a magazine. When I scratched it, I thought I’d won €30, never mind €30,000 – I hadn’t seen the three other zeros! I was jumping and screaming around the place. It was hilarious!”.
The Waterford local will be putting this life-enhancing prize towards travelling all around the world.
Others who collected their winnings this past bank holiday weekend, include a man from Wexford, who won an astonishing €60,005, a Kilkenny player who scooped up nearly €57,000, a Tipperary man who won €50,000 on the dot, and another Tipperary winner, from Roscrea, also won an impressive €50,000.
Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to good causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language.
In total, more than €6.5 billion has been raised for good causes since the National Lottery was established 37 years ago.
In 2023 alone, €227.9 million was raised for local causes in communities across the country.
Congratulations to the lucky winners!
