Waterford firefighters issue warning over something we forget to do every day

Firefighters in Waterford have issued a major warning over the dangers of clothes dryer fires over a chore we all forget to do.

They posted to social media to warn householders that "dryer lint can spark a fire!"

They added: "Did you know that something as simple as dryer lint can be a major fire hazard in your home? Protect your home and family by following these easy steps:

"Clean the lint filter before and after every load.

"Check the vent for any lint buildup at least once a month.

"Inspect the dryer duct regularly.

"Ensure proper airflow by keeping the area around your dryer clutter-free.

"We have witnessed the result of this many times. Look at the damage a dryer fire can cause when lint builds up and isn’t cleaned," they concluded as they shared an image of a dryer destroyed by fire.
