Almost 700 households in County Waterford are being warned they should not drink water from their local supply due to increased turbidity in the raw water source.
Following consultation with the Health Service Executive, Uisce Éireann has issued a Boil Water Notice to protect the health of approximately 671 customers who are supplied by the Ballymacarbry Public Water Supply.
The notice was issued on Friday evening and will remain in place until the water supply is deemed safe to drink from.
A map of the area affected by the Boil Water Notice can be found here.
Customers can check if their property is included by visiting the Water Quality page on the Uisce Éireann website and entering the property’s Eircode or by calling the Uisce Éireann’s customer care helpline, open 24/7, on 1800 278 278.
All consumers affected by this notice must boil their water before drinking.

In a public notice, Uisce Éireann has apologised for the inconvenience caused to those impacted by recent disruptions to the supply.
Dedicated water services engineers are on site to ensure supply is fully restored as quickly as possible and an alternative water supply is available at the Community Centre in Ballymacarbry for affected customers. This water must also be boiled before use.
Uisce Éireann’s Maura Phelan said: “Public health is our number one priority and we would like to assure customers that the notice has been put in place to protect public health. Our compliance and operations experts are working to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible. We understand the impact a Boil Water Notice has on the local community and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
