A Waterford takeaway operating from a domestic premises in a housing estate has been shut down.

According to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), Shinu George has been closed due to their provision of off-site catering from a domestic location.

The business - which was based in 8 Esker Avenue, Ardkeen Village, Co Waterford - was shut under the Health Service Executive European Union (Official Controls in Relation to Food Legislatin) Regulations 2020.

Shinu George reportedly failed to comply with hygiene requirements for the premises used primarily as a private dwelling-house where foods are regularly prepared for placing on the market.

A report noted the premises "does not offer sufficient facilities and working space to allow for the hygienic performance, storage and cooking of high-risk foodstuffs for off-site catering".

It is one of nine closure orders issued in February 2024.
