WATERFORD WEATHER: Gale force winds expected

A windy day is ahead today (July 8).

That's according to Met Éireann, which forecasts unseasonable fresh to strong southeasterly winds reaching gale force at times along south and west coasts.

A dry night is ahead with some clear spells in many parts at first this evening, with isolated showers feeding up from the south.

The showers will turn heavy as the night goes on, potentially merging to longer spells of rain at times with the chance of the odd rumble of thunder.

Temperatures will range between 9 and 12 degrees.

A Status Yellow wind warning is in place for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, and Connacht until 12pm today.

Damage to tents and other temporary structures is to be expected, as well as falling branches.
