Several vehicles, including a truck, were caught speeding on the N25 over the weekend
Gardai in County Waterford are appealing to motorists to slow down - particularly while driving in bad weather and late at night.
The appeal comes following a number of late-night speeding detections on the main N25, Waterford to Cork, road over the weekend.
In a post on social media, gardai say the detections were made by members attached to Kilmacthomas garda station who carried out a checkpoint in the village of Lemybrien at around 3am on Sunday.
“Regardless of the time of day, the speed limits are set. Gardai operate 24/7, in all weather,” reads the post, which highlights a number of the detections.
The speed limit in the village is 60km/h and, according to the gardai, several vehicles, including a truck, were caught travelling at speeds of at least 80km/h.
One detection which has been highlighted relates to a red saloon car which was travelling at 91km/h - more than 30km/h above the limit.
Gardai have not disclosed publicly what action has been taken in relation to any of the vehicles which were stopped during the checkpoint.
