RIP:  'A true gem with a heart of gold'- Waterford in despair after mother of five dies

Tributes have poured in following the death of a Waterford wife and mother of five who passed away surrounded by her loving family at Waterford Regional Hospital on Monday 9th February 2026.

Nuala Cummins (née Egan) was from Cathal Brugha, Dungarvan in Waterford, predeceased by her parents Met and Thomas Egan, brother Johnny Egan, grandson Ross, nephews Anthony and John, niece Paula, brother-in-law John Nugent and sister-in-law Ann Egan.

Deeply mourned by her loving husband Daniel Cummins, children Annemarie, Thomas, Marcella, Siobhan and Finbarr, brothers Tommy, Tony, Edwin and Alfie, sisters Tessie and Cheryl, grandchildren Jordan Sexton, Dion, Conor, Hollie, and Alannah Keohan, Amelia and Kaleb Sexton, Mickey, Thomas, Kathleen, Nan and Willie Delaney, Chloe, Callum and Aoife Sexton, great grandchildren baby Tom, Ciara Delaney and Sonnie Sexton, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Reposing at Drohan’s Funeral Home Dungarvan (Eircode X35 XF67) on Friday 13th February from 5p.m - 7p.m. Funeral Mass on Saturday 14th February at 10:30a.m in St. Mary’s Parish Church Dungarvan. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Eileen, with one mourner writing,

"Nuala was a true gem with a heart of gold. I have very fond memories of her, she always took the time to stop and chat. She will be remembered with great affection always. Our Thoughts and Prayers are with you all at this sad time. A bed of Heaven to Nuala - may she rest in peace".

Another message said, "This hits hard. I have known you and your family my whole life, from a child to now. Your were always so unbelievably kind to me, made time to stop and say hello and have the chat and a great family friend growing up. Fond Memories of Byrneville growing up will always contain you. Much love to your family at this difficult time. Rest in eternal peace my friend".

"Sincere condolences to Dan and all of Nuala's family on the loss of a true lady. Nuala loved the chats....she was a great worker in Dungarvan hospital and you knew when Nuala was on that you would have a great day and a laugh. Rest in peace Nuala," another person said.
