Young teenagers from Waterford have created a GoFundMe for their friend who was tragically killed in an e-scooter crash as his mother calls for a nationwide ban on the popular mode of transport.
18-year-old Sammy Hanrahan was killed in an e-scooter crash in Waterford City on November 21st.
Sammy's friends have created a GoFundMe for funeral expenses and a headstone to "help give his mum, little sister, and the rest of his family a peaceful and beautiful resting place where they can visit and remember him".
The fundraiser has collected €3,447 so far from people across Waterford and all over Ireland to help cover the costs of his funeral.
The GoFundMe can be found via the link here.
He is sorely missed and cherished by his loving mother Jane, sister Aria, his grandparents, father Sammy, Aideen and Aaron, girlfriend Zara, aunts, uncles, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

His mother Jane was recently speaking on local radio in Waterford about the need for a ban on e-scooters.
She said: "The tragedy has highlighted what is a growing and unregulated danger on the roads.
"E-bikes reach high speeds and offer no insurance, putting riders and other road users at risk. They should not be left on the road. You could be blue in the face telling young fellows not to use them, but sure, they will.
Her son Sammy had his e-bike for about a week at the time he was killed, his mother added: "The safety stuff came with it so he was planning to be safe."
