RIP: 'Always advice, chats, banter and lots of laughs'- Tributes paid to Waterford woman

Tributes have poured in following the passing of a Waterford woman who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Breda McDonald (née ROWE) was from Knockboy Village, Ballygunner in Waterford and formerly Campile in Wexford and died on Tuesday, 25th November 2025 aged 69 years.

Breda died peacefully, in the tender care of her family and all the staff at The South East Palliative Care Centre, Oak Ward, University Hospital Waterford, predeceased by her parents Lar and Biddy.

Breda will be sadly missed by her daughters Elizabeth, Laureena (Atkins) and Breeda (Moloney), Breda's partner Michael, sons-in-law Ian, Alan and Martin, grandchildren Calvin, Martha, Peadar, Jayden, Ellie and Hailey, brothers Larry and Michael, sisters Mary (Weafer), Rita (Morrissey) and Stastia (Harrington), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved Breda, with one mourner writing,

"Sincere condolences to Liz, Laureena, Breeda and Michael on the passing of Breda. Our thoughts and prayers are also with the Rowe family at this difficult time. Breda was an absolute lady and will be missed by all who loved her. May she rest in peace".

Another message said, "I am so sad to hear of Breda’s passing. I have such fond memories working with Breda in Orpens during my teenage years. I fondly remember how much Breda loved her three girls, her work ethic and how she took no prisoners!

"There was always advice, chats, banter and lots of laughs throughout those years and I will always remember Breda with a smile. Our deepest condolences to Elizabeth, Laureena, Breeda, Michael and extended families. Bed of Heaven to you Breda".

"Sincere Condolences to Bredas family. We worked together for 15 years in Penneys and never ran out of things to talk about. A true lady," another person said.
