RIP Mary Spratt
Tributes have poured in for the dearly loved Mary Spratt, a former teacher from Dungarvan, who will be remembered for her kindness, strength and unwavering love for family.
Mary was from Green Gables, Tournore, Dungarvan, Waterford and formerly Sneem in Kerry.
She died peacefully at home on Sunday 13th July 2025 and is predeceased by her parents Sadie and Dan, son Patrick and grandson Peter, brothers Dennis, Donie and sister Tessie.
Mary will be sadly missed by her loving husband Justin, sons Aidan, Justin and Ray, daughters Michelle and Nuala, daughters-in-law Maria and Ann-Marie, son-in-law Colin, brothers Gerald, Brendan, John and sister Chrissie, her much adored grandchildren Sarah, Caitriona, Sophie, Gráinne, Erin, Mealla, Odin, Féile and Esme, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Mary's funeral was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, 16th July, in St. Augustine's Church, Abbeyside.
Private Cremation took place after.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Mary, with one mourner writing,
"Sincere Sympathy to Justen and family and all The Riney family. Mary was a very special lady always a joy to meet. Sneem will not be the same without her. May her gentle Soul Rest in Peace."

Another message said, "Sincere condolences to Mary’s husband, Justin and her children on your great loss of a wonderful lady, who I often met & had uplifting chats at the family owned Rineys Bar in Sneem down the years. Condolences also to the extended Spratt and Riney families. May her gentle Soul rest in eternal peace".
"Deepest sympathies to Justin and all the family. Mary was a lovely teacher who set many of us on our way in Moonamean and Grange National schools. May she rest in peace," another person said.
"My deepest condolences to Justin and family on the loss of your beloved Mary. A true lady , with a most uplifting and positive view on life. Mary was the teacher we all wished we had. May she rest in well earned eternal Peace," another person said.
