RIP: 'Legendary in her time'
Tributes have poured in for Waterford local Sr. Loreto Bugler who died recently.
Sr. Loreto Bugler died peacefully on Sunday 22nd June 2025 in the loving care of the staff of St. Vincent’s Unit in Dungarvan Community Hospital in Waterford.
Sr. Loreto will be greatly missed by her Mercy Community, her brother Michael, sister-in-law Sheila, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, extended family and friends.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:
Lying in Repose at the Mercy Convent Chapel, Church Street, Dungarvan (Eircode X35 XY53) on Thursday 26th June 2025 from 5p.m - 7p.m concluding with evening prayer. Requiem Mass on Friday 27th June at 11a.m in St. Mary’s Parish Church, Dungarvan. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Sr. Loreto, with one mourner writing,
"Sincere sympathy to Sister Loreto's family & Mercy Sisters. Very lovely memories of an excellent French teacher."

Another message said, "My sincere sympathy to the Mercy Community and to the family of dear Sr. Loreto. What a special person she was. We were lifelong friends following her kindness to me as a boarder in Colàiste Mhuire. She was blessed with a happy disposition, a love of teaching and learning and had care and concern for her pupils. She was legendary in her time and a friend to so many. Au revoir mon cher ami. Rest in Peace Kitty."
"My deepest sympathy to Sr. Loreto’s family and the Mercy community on the passing of Sr. Loreto. She taught me French when I was a student in the Mercy. She was a lovely teacher, so gentle and kind. May you rest in peace Sr. Loreto," another message said.
"My sincere sympathy to Sr. Loreto’s family and the Mercy Community in Dungarvan on her passing. She taught me French and was so lovely. We met last year at our 50 year class reunion and she was as friendly as ever. May she rest in peace," another person said.
