Garda O'Dwyer first Irishman to ever win UK golf tournament

An Garda Siochana in Waterford made a speciel shout out to their very own Garda Martin O' Dwyer recently.

"We would like to congratulate Garda Martin O'Dwyer of Dunmore East Garda Station on his recent win at the Craws Nest Tassie in Carnoustie Golf Links," the post said.

The Craws Nest Tassie is one of the most prestigious amateur golf competitions in the UK, with over 340 entrants from all over the World.

First played in 1927, the Annual Event consists of two qualifying rounds, one over the Championship course and the other over the alternate Buddon Course.

The 64 competitors with the best scratch scores are drawn to play over the Championship Links in matchplay for the Tassie.

"What makes this win even more historic is that Garda O'Dwyer is the first Irishman to ever win the Tournament since it's inception in 1927," Waterford gardai said.
"Congratulations Garda O'Dwyer!".
