“This is a brilliant investment in our outdoor recreation infrastructure and will benefit communities from the Comeraghs to the Copper Coast. Community-led initiatives like St. Declan’s Way has demonstrated the benefits of active tourism.
“It has shown the way that slow and truly sustainable tourism can bring dividends to each of the communities along its route. These are the investments we need to ensure that visitors to Waterford can enjoy varied and geographically spread offerings.”
69 projects throughout Ireland received the funding and included projects like greenways, blueways, forest parks and cycling facilities. New walking trails will be established as well as access points for water activities.
