After 32 years as CEO of Waterford Leader Partnership (WLP), Jimmy Taaffe is retiring from his role.
Family, friends, work colleagues and board members gathered together last Friday Dec 15 for a reception in the Park Hotel Dungarvan to acknowledge his contribution to the county of Waterford and congratulate him for such service.
Jimmy always welcomed community and individual development with the bottom up led approach to steering successful projects in Waterford County.
WLP was formed in 1991 and is one of 49 local development companies in Ireland. Local Development Companies (LDCs) are multi-sectoral partnerships that deliver community and rural development, labour market activation, social inclusion, climate action and social enterprise services.
Under Jimmy Taaffe`s guidance and leadership WLP have become one of the lead funders of rural development in Waterford.

The successful skatepark in Dungarvan town is proving a huge hit and attraction for budding outdoor enthusiasts.
The various on-farm businesses – from Ice cream production in both East & West Waterford to cheese making in Knockanore, is helping keep employment in rural areas thrive.
Engineering firms have benefitted throughout the county with essential equipment, tourism has been boosted with camping pods are offering additional income to smaller villages, The Blackwater Distillery is an added huge addition to Ballyduff Upper and the various community groups and sporting organisations who have benefited from Leader have all found Jimmy and his team underpinning this vital funding.
